CARE OPTIONS

The right level of care, agreed together.

Care options describe how much assistance a person needs, which is a different thing from the four services on our Services page: Residential Care, Home Care, Daycare Services and Short-Stay / Respite Care. Each includes eleven supports. A care level describes how much of that help your loved one needs. Every family starts with an assessment. We take the time to understand your loved one, and we agree the right level together.

CARE LEVEL 01

Independent Care

For older persons who require minimal assistance.

This level suits the person who manages most of their own day but no longer wants the isolation of living alone, or whose family wants company and reassurance close by. Independence here is preserved, not replaced.

A typical day has the shape they choose: meals in good company, activities and conversation when they feel like it, and quiet when they don’t. Staff are always nearby, but the day belongs to the resident.

Support is quietly there when it’s needed: housekeeping, laundry, dietitian-planned meals and nursing oversight around the clock. And for a person living with dementia, memory support is available within this level as their needs change.

CARE LEVEL 02

Semi-Dependent Care

For those who need some assistance with daily activities.

This level suits the person who can still do a great deal, but finds some daily activities harder than they used to: bathing, dressing, moving about, or keeping track of the day.

A typical day blends help with independence. A caregiver assists with the morning routine and medication, then steps back so your loved one can do everything they still can for themselves. Afternoons bring activities, appointments or rest.

Alongside personal care, this level includes nursing support, medication management, meals planned with a dietitian and companionship throughout the day. Memory support is available within this level too for a person living with dementia.

CARE LEVEL 03

Totally Dependent Care

For those who require extensive support with daily activities.

This level suits the person who needs hands-on help through most of the day or night, whether from frailty, illness or advanced memory loss.

A typical day is unhurried and fully supported: assistance with washing, dressing and meals, medication given and logged, and gentle attention to comfort, movement and rest.

Nursing care sits at the centre of this level, with caregivers present around the clock, close monitoring and doctor visits arranged and attended. Memory support is part of this level as well, with calm routines and safety measures that protect dignity for a person living with dementia.

AS NEEDS CHANGE

Levels can change. Home doesn’t have to.

A person’s needs can shift over months or years, and that is expected. When it happens, we reassess and adjust the level of support rather than asking a family to move elsewhere. Your loved one stays in the place and the routines they know, and the care around them changes with them.
